STEEL PILES


 

GENERAL

Steel H-Piles, Steel Pipe Piles, and Sheet Piles shall conform to the requirements of Article 4167 and 2501 of the Standard Specifications.

 

Requirements for specific Steel Piles are found in the following IM’s:

467.01 – Steel H-Piles

467.02 – Steel Sheet Piling

467.03 – Steel Pipe Piles

 

ACCEPTANCE

Steel piling shall be accepted on the basis of a signed Mill Test Report from the melting mill including a statement that the material was melted and manufactured in the United States.

 

The piling shall be from an approved source (rolling mill) prior to letting.

 

Steel H-pile require a satisfactory test report from a random sample per the Monitoring Inspection in IM 467.01

 

The supplier and/or the contractor shall furnish an Identification Report for each shipment to a project.  The Identification Report shall include:

1.     Company name and address

2.     Customer/contractor name

3.     Quantity of piles (number)

4.     Pile description (type, size and length)

5.     Project number

6.     Heat number

7.     Shipping date

The supplier and/or contractor shall also include the certification statement below signed by an authorized company representative:

 

CERTIFICATION STATEMENT

We hereby certify that the contents of this Identification Report are accurate.  All test results and fabrication performed by this material manufacturer are in compliance with the requirements of the applicable ASTM’s and the cross sectional dimensions of ASTM A 6.  We also certify that the steel meets the requirements of IM 107, Group 1, Buy America.

Acceptance shall also be based upon a completed Steel Pile Monitor Inspection Form (Appendix C) completed by the project inspector. Copies of the signed Mill Test Report for each heat number listed shall be included with the report.
