Asphalt Binder (Noncomplying Percent Recovery)
Percent recovery is used to evaluate an asphalt binder’s potential for rutting. The following tables are used to determine the price adjustment to apply to the total tons of asphalt binder when the tested percent recovery does not meet the specified percent recovery.

NOTES:
1. R = measured test result of percent recovery
2. Specification = minimum percent recovery specified for an asphalt binder
3. The minimum pay factor is 80%. If the pay factor is 80%, the Engineer may declare the lot defective and consider removal.
4. The pay factor is applied to the total tons of asphalt binder used in the individual lot. When possible, bracket testing will be used to try and isolate the area of noncompliance.
When basis of payment is by area, apply the pay factor to the invoice price paid for the affected asphalt binder quantity. If invoice price is not available, multiply 0.5 X (1.0 + pay factor) X mixture quantity (SY) placed in the
